I'd like to clarify, if I may, that simply being absorbed in the object of observation is not in itself meditation. One can easily be lost in thought without being mindful. True meditation (or mindfulness) - in my opinion - is to be fully present with the object of awareness, while at the same time being free from attachment to any particular desire or outcome.
