as for the effects of meditation i was wondering if anyone knew of psychometric scales that described the continuum of the mind (self) of meditators. yikes, and more specifically, i am a currently unemployed outcomes researcher i have an interest in understanding why some "disabled" patients report very low quality of life (qol) while others report much higher qol even though they have apparently similar levels of disability. i have a hunch it's in their view of their "self" that increases or decreases their apparent suffering and would like to do some research on this (probably grant). but, i can't locate a test of this type of "self" orientation and while i would try to design one i'd rather go the easier route if it exists. my view of this comes from 6 yrs of zen practice, now including mu, with a teacher. any suggestions?
