RE: Cybersex Survey Dear Therapist Friend, I am a master of arts in psychology (MAP) student at Houston Baptist University. As part of my degree, I am conducting a research project concerning the contribution of the Internet to sex addiction. I would like to ask for your help. Would you be willing to allow your clients who are or have been engaged in compulsive sexual behavior to participate in this study? It is my belief that the study will shed some light on the efficacy of various tools used in recovery as well as a correlation between sobriety and factors such as psychiatric care, and attendance/participation in 12-step groups. I also believe there will be a correlation between length of sobriety and participation in psychotherapy. If you indicate you will give your clients an opportunity to participate in this research project, I will prepare individual packets that contain a survey and informed consent for you to give to your clients. The project will be both confidential and anonymous. Each participant will receive a stamped, self-addressed envelope to use to return the survey directly to me. In return for your participation in this research project, I will be glad to furnish you with the complete results of the study. Please e-mail me at mmagness@airmail.net or contact me by phone at (713) 660-9245 to tell me how many packets you need. Thanks for your assistance. Milton S. Magness, D.Min.
