    Mark,
    It is difficult to always understand why some people benefit from medication and others can not tolerate them. It could be that your wife has not gone low enough and slow enough on the SSRI's. Or, it could be that she needs atyptical anti-depressants. She may have a hyper-sensitive nervous system, quite common among suffers of IBS, Migraine, anxious depression, fibromyalgia, and insomnia. Working with a good psychiatrist is the best way to determine if and what kind of medication will help her.
