I agree wholeheartedly with your post. I have found these disciplines to be very helpful to clients for relieving anxiety and depression. Clients experiencing withdrawal symptoms from alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine and hydrocodone have all reported immediate relief through Chi Kung exercise. Even young children (5 &up) have demonstrated the ability to practice abdominal breathing and one-pointed concentration and reduce their ADHD behaviors and control pain.
I have also learned important lessons in communication, rapport building, and teaching from my TCC Sifu Sung Tso Chen. His patience, lightheartedness and humor, phenomenal skill level, and continued gentle but firm reminders that My skill level can only improve with My practice, have greatly influenced my approach to the therapist-client relationship.
