In Phil's article in this thread, he quoted someone from another list stating "If information flows freely over the internet, then naturally (from complexity theory) there will be more self organization and more flips to new points of self-organization." I have to say that this contradicts my intuitive expectation, e.g. that increased flow causes decreased organization. Chaos theory refers to turbulence in this light, which happens when a system tries to throughput above its capacity. I think this is in essence what Joe Wysong was referring to: that the greater immediacy and volume of data flow over the Internet may promote chaotic thinking and reduce organization of thoughts and ideas.
