The appendix presents an overview of statistics, quantitative genetic theory, and a type of quantitative genetic analysis called model fitting. A new feature of this edition is an interactive web site that brings the appendix to life with demonstrations: http://statgen.iop.kcl.ac.uk/bgim. The Web site was designed and written, and the appendix was revised, by Shaun Purcell (Institute of Psychiatry, London). It contains exercises with: variance, covariance, correlation and regression, matrices, model fitting, multivariate complex effects, extremes analysis, and QTL (quantitative trait loci) mapping. (Great looking site! JB)
