I specialize in systems psychotherapy with and around people living with brain impairments. I have found Ericksonian approaches including hypnosis to be startlingly effective. Some teaching professionals who espoused Ericksonian approaches, but who hadn't attempted hypnosis with such people, said it wouldn't work. All my clients are "last ditch"; referred after supposedly all conventional therapies have failed. I have found naturalistic inductions to be useful in forwarding intensive therapy with persons from a deaf six year old to a nonverbal woman with moderate/severe Downs Syndrome to many dementing elders. Assigning homework to family members instead of to the designated client, has oft proven that these groups of desperate people act in concert. Sometimes the concert is bad, sometimes good, but the groups of people who refer themselves into my work certainly act as a system. Any one want to talk about such issues?
