I am working with a Safe&Healthy Community coalition that puts on a health fair each year for local children. Children brought in by their parents receive a number of health screenings (ie. Blood pressure, vision, hearing, immunization, etc.), but no mental health screenings are ever done. My administator says that no screening is available that meets his criteria, which are that the instrument: 1) have sufficient peer-reviewed research support establishing validity and reliability 2)be quickly administered and scored 3)have a good true positive/false negative rate and 4) be cost effective to screen 250 to 400 children. I do not know if such an instrument exists, but refuse to dismiss this opportunity for early identification because "It just ain't out there" philosophy. Does anyone know of such an instrument or where I could look for one? Anxiously awaiting assistance, Jodie Roberts, M.S. jodsarhc@hotmail.com
