I recently saw the parents of an adult child (45) who was married and had chlidren of her own. The 'child' went for marital therapy and got from there into individual therapy. The therapist was convinced that her 'symptomology' meant that she was abused as a child. After twenty more sessions the client was convinced also. When she confronted her parents they were destroyed by the idea and their daughters anger. Crisis? you bet. We worked not on the truth, but for-giving, for-getting for-ward.
