Gestalt - family therapy

    Gestalt - family therapy
    by Claire Salisbury, 4/3/98

I am a Gestalt therapist in private practice, working in Highgate London. I have been working as a volunteer on National Stepfamily Association's helpline, and recently ran a 6 week group entitled 'Living in a Stepfamily' for parents and step-parents.

I would like to train further in family and couples work, and have enquired at the Institute of Family therapy. Although interested in systemic practice, I want to maintain my Gestalt focus. The only courses I have found are year long, and lead towards an MA. I am not really looking for something so intense and would prefer to find a short course ie: several weekends, or over a few months. Please would anyone let me know of any short courses on working with families and couples that they know of?

One option suggested by a friend, would be to ask one of the family therapy organisations to put on such a course. Would any one else be interested?

I look forward to your replies.
