    It looks like Herb Lanese, president of MacDonnell Douglas, won't be getting the Nobel Peace Prize this year. He recently told his workers how they should feel about the employees of rival companies: "I wish they were all dead," he said. "I wish their children would starve to death. When you all get that mindset, then we'll be in synch."

    It makes you wonder if the primary motive of some CEO's is not just to enrich themselves, but to make other suffer. Phillip Slater discussed this tendency in his book Wealth Addiction. It might explain the epidemic of corporate downsizing coupled with obscene executive bonuses.
