If I remember correctly, I briefly tried to visit WA about a year ago, but could not get the software to work. There is some information on how it compares to Palace in my online book "The Psychology of Cyberspace" (www.rider.edu/users/suler/psycyber/otherworlds.html)
Boring? Actually, there are hundreds of Palace sites - each their own little worlds - so I'm not sure what you mean when you say Palace is boring... unless you mean the software itself is boring.
I've been studying the oldest Palace sites, mostly "Main" - which is now owned by Electric Communities. It's been anything but boring. I like to compare it to hanging out at the coffee pot at work. If you do so for just a few minutes, it usually is rather dull. But if you hang out there for hours at time, all sorts of dramas unfold. Beneath the seemingly idle "chat" of many chat environments, there's a very complex culture and many dramas brewing.
