I have a question about the study. Where was the control group? I didn't notice a time frame that this study took place, or if the questions could be asked in such a manner that would only reflect the effects of Internet use, as opposed to effects caused by the on-going events in our world around us (if I recall correctly, the degrees of depression were minimal). On the same note, I can see that having access to the Internet could be quite depressing as that you have an even broader, more immediate, and sometimes interactive, access of all the on-going events in our world around us. The point about "newbies" is very relevant, also. Most everyone I know, even myself, ended up loosing lots of sleep when first getting on-line. Lack of sleep can definately cause depression. I will be interested in reading your opinion on the study.
