Lay organization titles

I certification "registered hypnotherapist" in not given by ASCH. I have seen it given from a lay organization. One interesting one, in fact, founded by a person without the minimal Masters Degree in the helping professions. Generally, a phrase like this is misleading to the public who comes to believe that the owner of such a title must certainly have acquired some minimal standard in academic education and specialty training. It is not the case in my experience. Sadder, still, some appropriately qualified professionals don't realize the background of the organization and its founder and seek this rating. By their actions they tend to cast a legitimacy to the others in that lay organization. Your letter attests to one facet of the problem, of course.
