Sadly, most states [US] do not seem to regulate hypnosis with any standards of education, practice, and the other controls that Dr. Zeig mentions. There is, of course, regulation of medicine, psychology, social work, counseling, and marriage and family therapy. But the lay hypnotist typically says, "I'm not doing psychology, or clinical social work, so I don't need your license." I wish there was a way to respond.
