I don't really have room for everything I found out about the ethics. I do summarize it all at http://mentalhealth.miningco.com/library/blyet.htm and other places. Some important issues:
o No ethical guidelines are in place from the major associations.
o It is unclear where the interaction occurs.
o States are writing conflicting laws.
o Liability insurance companies don't know what to do.
o Current bandwidth allows no non-verbals. This degrades the communication.
o All ethical guidelines still apply (esp. APA for psychologists) because a professional relationship has been established.
There are more unanswered questions than answered ones. My personal stance has been to be very limited in what I offer.
