Hi Ed- Thanks for the suggestion. I am looking forward to stimulating conversations and you are the first to post!
It is very difficult to give general examples of this theory because it is different with each patient. The theory is based on helping patients achieve their conscious and unconscious goals. This is accomplished by disconfirming their pathogenic, maladapitive beliefs. These crippling ideas are generally formed during childhood traumas. Not very helpful I bet. You might try reading the case responses in the case conference section. I think it will be clear that I am suggesting a different way of thinking about how to help patients. There is also a review of the theory in this section as well. We will also be starting our own Web page very soon. On it you will be able to down load our bibliography and articles related to the theory. Researching our ideas comprises a large component of our groups activities. You might enjoy learning about our research projects into how therapy works. Thanks for starting us off.
