    EMDR in practice

I took the Basic EMDR course and have used it with a few clients. Please keep in mind that my experience using it is minimal ( probably no more than 30 sessions). All of the clients were adults molested as children, presented with Major Depression recurrent , Borderline Pers. D/O, and Substance Abuse. ( One client had a complete remission of chronic stomach pain due to diagnosed ulcer which was a suprise for me.) With these clients the technique opened a door to buried memories, both pleasant and traumatic, which became the substance of processing sessions. I have found the technique to be useful in conjunction with others when treating multiple-trauma clients.
