Virtual Reality for Treatment of Phobias
    by Jim Pretzer, 5/29/97

I know that a number of people are experimenting with the use of virtual reality in the treatment of phobias. The basic idea is that since in-vivo exposure is often impractical, virtual reality software may be a good way to expose clients to phobic stimuli.

A group at University of Georgia published some early findings that sounded promising and I have heard about other investigators working on this. My big question is - Does anyone currently have an operational system which runs on a PC or Macintosh? The U of GA system was running on a Sun Workstation the last time I checked with them (and I don't have one).

If you have any info, please post here and/or contact me directly at jpretzer@apk.net
