EMDR - Period of effectiveness

I was a recipient of EMDR therapy for a limited number of sessions last year (about 7 sessions @ 1.5 hrs each), with good results that lasted several months but faded thereafter.

I am wondering if recipients of EMDR therapy need regular "recharging", or are the effects of EMDR therapy intended to be permanent?
