Patients who experience "Dental Phobia"; are not willing to admit that this is a "problem". They only know they experience it; and since you only "experience" it possibly two times per year; they just sort of deal with it and get through it; until the next time they have to visit the dentist. It is a humiliating experience; especially for a person who considers himself to be mature, professional, "together" in all other areas of their life; to suddenly become "child-like" in a dentist's chair. Most patients that experience "Dental Phobia" would be thirty years of agae or older; since these are the patients who visited dentists at an age when drilling teeth without Novacaine was considered "routine"; while traumatizing to the patient. It would be a waste of time & money to try & treat "Dental Phobia" patients.
