I was trained in Alerian thought at the University of South Dakota. I have been using it for many years. I think your response is partly correct, in therapy the Life Style Analysis is the best means of investigation. However, within the research relm, typologies are quite useful. Further, there has been considerable criticism of Individual Psychology for failing to elaborate its developmental componets most completly. Kefir made an attempt at doing this. The research I have done with the basic types which were elaborated on by Kefir, indicate a means to further validate IP. The types are also very similar to the "Big 5" in personality theory.
Is anyone else doing research with these constructs?
