    Web forums vs Usenet
    by Tanya Matveeva (Inity), 9/26/98

    Hello:

Web-forums aren't good invention. They are good for people who haven't access to Usenet or FIDO echomail or never tried them.

For example. This forum. When I go back to forum after treads, I'm forced to see lots of message titles which I already have read. I can't mark them as read and remove from my screen, how I easily do in usenet newsreaders. When I hit "reply", I don't see quoted text with > marks. Even mailing lists are better than web-boards. This forum is only one forum in which I can post, for the topic is incredibly interesting; but posting messages via browser is uncomfortable. I feel discomfort with this. may be, only DejaNews ( http://www.dejanews.com ) has good scripts, so web-interface for Usenet news is pretty... I think that it is very important and this forms our mood, when we work with Usenet or when we post on web-boards...
