Heard a very plausible theory on that recently in Boston. The suggestibility in these matters was really with the therapist. Certain people have what has been termed 'fantasy proneness'. A convincing ability to believe they have lived their fantasy and or at least have an amazing gift to spin exceptionally detailed stories that are believable. Kind of like politicians. Anyway, if the therapist is not duped into believing in the possibility of an "abduction" then it becomes about the way in which the patient is communicating with the therapist. That may be a place to start talking and gather information about what's really going on. I've seen that fantasy ability with friends who are in the arts, never where it was a problem though. I imagine a man like Erickson asking what the aliens looked like and then getting around to talking about the clients family. I too would be interested in what the exceptionally gifted folks who run the forum think. (All of this theory I'm assuming is after the therapist rules out the obvious mental disorders?) J. Fletcher
