I always try to resist posting on any forum except my own, because I'm too damn busy but today I couldn't resist. Now do you possibly mean to say that because this approach to therapy involves an entire philosophy, it can't be studied?
Let me quote you: "So, that's the dilemma you researchers....It will be like discovering there is no research that say, the Western world view is more useful than the Asian world view, etc."
Now I distinctly remember the high point of the Ericksonian convention this last August of 98 was hearing you interview and hypnotize a young man suffering with neck pain. Is it possible that such a gifted clinician who has advanced our understanding of how to heal the body using the mind would have such a narrow view of researchers? Do you really think that all researchers have such a reductionistic view?
Is it not possible that quantifiable data might contribute to our understanding of why this approach to therapy seems to help patients?
Well, color me disillusioned but amused!
