Hello Ann!
I am glad you enjoyed the December 1997, Seminar on Ericksonian Hypnosis organized by the Milton H. Erickson Foundation in Phoenix. For those of you who did not attend, it was a marvelous training experience. The faculty consisted of Joseph Barber, Ph.D.; Betty Alice Erickson, MS, LPC, LMFT; Stephen Gilligan, Ph.D.; Stephen Lankton, MSW, DAHB; Ernest Rossi, Ph.D.; Kay Thompson, DDS; Michael Yapko, Ph.D.; and myself. There were fundamental, intermediate and advanced sessions. Anyone who wants to know more about the Foundation's activities can see our web site at http://www.erickson-foundation.org or email us at office@erickson-foundation.org.
I do not know anything about the hypnotherapy you mentioned, but I agree with your perspective. I find limited use for abreaction in my practice. Abreactions are not therapeutic in and of themselves. They must reframe previous hurts and be tied to constructive future actions.
