All of my life (pre-professional as well as now) I have thought it odd that in our day and age, by and large, people do not value health - physical, mental, relationship, or spiritual - if it means ~doing~ something to achieve it.
Relucatance to seek or pay for help in these areas is a good measure of that value. And, it appears by that measure things are not going to be improving much in this era. We can, however, ourselves strive to be happy and have freedom of thought and joy. Some will seek us out as a result of that which we demonstrate and some will not. Perhaps neither is the wiser (!). Many in our profession will not, themsleves, be healthy.
Spinning around with you children until you fall down laughing sounds like you might be on the right path, to me.
- but that won't pay the bills, as you say. The world spins oddly sometimes.
