Both kids have Tamagatchis, both children are anxious and obsessive. (The 6 yo closely supervises the gas gauge on the family car and boat; the other, 10, cannot stand a calendar that is showing the wrong month.)
However, their school will not allow the electronic critters. Thus, mom, who travels many miles and hours per week and dad, the computer programmer, have to keep the Tamagatchis changed, fed, watered, and hugged! Since the parents are also obsessive, they comply even though annoyed.
A subtle mind could see a poetic justice here. Mom has to travel and leave the kids for several evenings per week, but now takes electronic substitutes along in her purse.
Strange things these Psych Adaptations. Stranger thing our culture.
