I have checked in with people I treated 10 years ago and the results have held. The controlled research with civilian trauma has had up to a 15 month follow-up and found that treatment gains have held or improved.
You should now have a sense of a healthy and happy "baseline" and self-control techniques to handle the inevitable stresses of life. If you find that you are pushed to do things you don't want to do, and/or prevented from doing other things then write down the information as you were taught in your "log." What was the trigger, the image, thoughts, emotions, etc. Call your therapist and discuss the implications. You may have uncovered other triggers or blocking beliefs that need to be addressed. The fact is that when you begin to act differently in the world, you need feedback over a period of time to see if there are any other targets that need to be addressed. It's good feedback for you and your therapist.
