I thought this post from the orginal discussion may also be relevant so that members of the forum can see where I'm coming from. Re:EMDR Lindsay Smith · 11/10/01 at 2:15 ET Years ago when scientists were first hooking meditators up to measure their vital signs an Indian Swami was invited into a lab to participate. He dutifully sat on the floor with his legs folded & was set up. On the signal he went into a meditative state. The scientists doing the experiment noted changes in his breathing & pulse & so on. Afterwards the swami was asked how he went into the trance state & he simply said, "I thought of blue." I am a teacher & hypnotherapist & have been practising various meditation techniques for over 40 years. I teach 'relaxation & concentration techniques' to students, clients & groups routinely. The original discussion is on the Meditation Forum Nov 2001.
