The world is full of clients whose therapists were full of warmth, concern and good intentions, and whose clients either: didn't get better because their trauma was never addressed or their trauma was addressed prematurely without the kinds of protections in place that would help make it a more comfortable and safe journey. These or other techniques are necessary. Please note that there are no controlled studies on the relative efficacy of "love" compared to either EMDR or cognitive behavior therapy. We do know however that exposure to the elements of trauma, as in EMDR and CBT, work. If love alone worked, someone would have written it up by now. They haven't.
