I was told that emdr can have possible treatment effects by this kind of disorder, but that treatment takes a longer time and is more difficult. The reason of this has something to do with the involment of the frontal cerebral lobe and it's more active functioning with persons who are obsessive. You might be suprised by this, but i heard from a well-known emdr-practisioner that also in other cases where the frontal lobe functioning is disturbed, emdr gets more difficult, like for example people who are using cocaïne at the moment of treatment, they first need to be clean for at least a week.
