Now you can see that a polite reply is quite easy. I'm glad to see that. Just to reiterate, I am speaking from my own clinical experience when I say that I feel that BILATERAL stimulation is unnecessary and it seems to just be SENSORY stimulation that is producing the benefits. I have not seen definative proof of the BILATERAL component yet from either clinical experience or research. I have read Dr. Shapiro's text and I have not found it helpful in addressing these issues. I agree that EMDR is a complex approach but I do not see any other elements, or combination of elements as being truely unique except for the stimulation component. I also find that I get the same results with various energy therapies so until you demonstrate other wise, I think it's prudent to look for a common explanation for the phenomenon. Other researchers have posited these sensory stimulation mechanisms as being the real cause of effectiveness (see Denny and Gallo). Until you have demonstrated otherwise, we will have to just agree to disagree. I will defer to you concerning Figley, however, I take exception with you that only "markateers and detractor" use the term "power therapy". I am neither and feel quite comfortable with the term. Thank you.
