I couldn't comment on your particular experience without a thorough assessment, which we can't do here. However, let me say something about pain. Some pain (not all by any means) is a somatic memory. That is to say, traumatic memories can be cognitive, emotional, behavioral, or somatic. As Bessel van der Kolk says, "The Body Keeps the Score". EMDR can often assist with any of these including somatic or body memories. They are mysterious because they may not be connected to conscious memory of anything specific. For some people, the origin of the somatic experience is quite accessible by glancing into a conference room in the mind's eye, and looking or asking what part of the self is holding the body pain. For many, this is enough to get an image that helps explain the somatic pain, which can be understood as dissociated pain. Please consult with your therapist and medical doctor to determine the nature of your pain.
