Hi, There are a variety of alternatives for training in EMDR. The first general requirement is that you are a licensed therapists of some kind (social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist, etc.). This is a requirement because EMDR therapy assumes skill and training in the general process of psychotherapy first with EMDR being a speciality skill added to this general skill as a psychotherapist. Once this requirement is met, most training is conducted by the EMDR Institute in California. Training is conducted world wide and consists of Level I and Level II. You can get the training schedule at the Institute's web page www.emdr.org. Additional training is provided in some Univeristy graduate departments. These trainings programs are approved by the EMDR International Association. Their web site is www.emdria.org. There are a number of training programs that take place in Austrailia and you can find out more about them at the web sites above.
