    It is tempting -- but an error -- for EMDR practitioners to conduct EMDR with friends or family. Although people have done it and produced good results, it can also be very problematic. This is because sometimes the cognitive interweaves that are needed necessitate a therapeutic relationship, and the container that an appropriate therapeutic relationship with good boundaries entails.

    An appropriate referral is a far better solution.
