As an EMDR client, well actually just a client who happens to undergo EMDR treatment, I believe you are out of line. First, I believe any treatment that may offer peace, acceptance, and understanding within is worthy of effort. Second, I don't understand how anyone can disregard other "professionals" experience within the same "profession" especially a profession where "facts and figures" are so obscure and indecisive. I chose not to disclose my identity as we all know that we truly don't know who may be "listening". For my feeling and necessity of safety, I think it best not to identify myself. However, I also would love to do so, but think it best that I don't. To be honest I must state that Dr. Paulsen Inobe was my therapist for several years. During those years, on probably hundreds of occasions, I practically begged her to tell me what was true, was what I seen, felt, heard, etc. true? All of these various images, thoughts, feelings, etc., that would arise during EMDR, I wanted, needed her to tell if they were true, what was it? In all those many, many, occasions, she would repeatedly say, "I don't know, I was not there." There were times that this would drive me crazy, I begged her for insight, but she never would relay one way or the other. She was absolutely right, she was not there. So it was up to me to decide. She openly would state that it could be distorted memory, that parts of the memory could be true, that it all could be true, that none of it could be true, but that none of it truly matter as much as what and where I was today. She would not tell me what was or was not the truth, even though I begged for her insight. I would eventually have to decide, but that bacsically it didn't matter. My emotions, feelings, behavior, etc., is what mattered, what I had to accept and work through. So, I am truly offended at your reply, your unjust, unsubstantial comments. People as yourself don't help those of us who seek a sense of "well being" of "understanding". To all other EMDR clients, please don't allow people as this to hinder your "road to being heathy, happy, and having some sense of well-being". From my experience, I can honestly state that your efforts and probable trials and errors, are well worth all your effort toward a sense of well-being and to openly and honestly give this therapy a chance. To all EMDR/Mental Health professionals, I thank you for caring enough and attempt, perhaps even striving, to make our lives better. I especially thank those of you who are open and willing to risk the controversy in helping your clients have better lives. To Dr. Paulsen Inobe--our deepest gratitude. We thank God everyday for having been so blessed to have found you. Again to Dr. Paulsen Inobe, we know you can delete any and all posts that you believe are inappropriate, off the subject, etc. We ask that you please not delete this one unless you truly feel it is inappropriate. The best to all who care enough, who try, who struggle, who are still here.....
