Tempted though I am to engage in this interesting discussion further, I am aware that the matter of any congruenty or gap between the Kitchur SDM and the standard EMDR protocol is a subject that a bit beyond the scope of what I'm doing here in my role as acting in Francine Shapiro's stead while she is on sabbatical. Therefore, it is not my role to actually defend or explain the SDM beyond what I have done at a high level I will say that Francine has attended the Kitchur training and liked it. She found it consistent with her own work, but systematic in its approach to family assessment. Dr. Shapiro has always been encouraging of people who find ways to improve the approach, while urging that research into EMDR follow the standard protocol so studies can compare apples to apples. Energentic debates about the SDM model are underway now. I'll direct you to Kitchur's website www.kitchur.org for ways to get more information about it. It may be that another reader here will offer posts about the Kitchur Model - a reader who isn't acting on Francine's behalf. Sandra Paulsen Inobe, PhD
