I sit in for Dr. Shapiro on this list. This forum is not a suitable place for one-on-one consultations, but I'll make a few general comments about attachment disorder and EMDR. 1) There is no controlled research on this important subject. 2) There is a trend in the EMDR community to a greater appreciation of this most early injury. 3) Many EMDR practitioners are puzzling over how best to access this early traumatic material, and whether the standard EMDR protocol best enables access to it or whether another approach might. 4) Several EMDR specialty trainers include discussion of attachment issues and its treatment, based on anecdotal material, in their trainings, including Andrew Leeds, Maureen Kitchur, and myself, all from different perspectives. Many of us think we are finding ways to assist clients with these problems. Controlled research is nowhere in site for these assumptions, but there are possibilities to explore for people who are interested.
