Dr. P: "Only time and research will tell whether the AIP theory is supported on a scientific level of explanation."

SKEPTIC: Propose a way to falsify AIP.

Dr. P: "Those of us who practice EMDR all day every day find that it fits what we see."

    SKEPTIC: Its called confirmation bias.

I have studied psychology and philosophy...what seems to be the issue here is that in science, you come up with a theory that best matches what you see, then you test that theory to the best of your ability. Then you refine the theory, and then you test it again, etc. That is all you can do. You dont necessarily need to be ABLE to falisfy it, that is why it is still a THEORY and not FACT. Just because it is still not a fact is not an argument to throw the whole thing out, in fact, THAT would be unscientific, as you are ignoring all observations that have been made and pretending they don't mean ANYTHING.
Other theories (note the word) like cognitive, behavioral, I believe are still theories as well. The idea in cognitive that thoughts preceed emotion, still a theory, you can't see the thoughts being converted into emotion. But the results seem to indicate that this is at least somewhat the case.
I would just say also, maybe investigate (if you are really into philosophy and theories) the concept of induction. We use it every day, all the time to get through our lives. This is how we know things like that there isn't some so far unidentified characteristic of matter that will allow us to walk through walls if we wiggle our big toes just right. Just because we can't prove every negative in the universe doesn't mean we should pretend we don't know anything.
