added note: An organization called Doctors of the World is extremely knowledgeable about the legal status of the torture victims they help. They also are a great resource as operators on both the treatment and legal intersection when it comes to immigrants and asylees. The intersection of treatment and legal status when it comes to torture victims is complicated terrain that requires one look into special resources like Doctors of the World. No one can responsibly treat a torture victim without becoming thoroughly aware of these issues. For instance, has this man even been afforded the opportunity to apply for asylum? Not a question you can take for granted, unfortnately. Also, another resource on treatment only is Bellevue/NYU's famous torture program. For all I know, you are a member of this organization! For all I know this fellow is the poster child at the Lawyers Committee! If not, again, please look into this. And thanks for reading this post. I was a little haunted by your post.
