First off, I can't make specific comments on this case, as we don't have enough info here to do case consultation. So I will make some general comments. Lots of people with PTSD originating in childhood get misdiagnosed with paranoid schiz just because they hear voices. I don't know if your fellow is appropriate diagnosed or not. Some who hear voices are dissociative disordered clients who need appropriate treatment as dissociative before ever doing EMDR. This is a critical point, discussed in this forum often. I just entered "EMDR torture survivors" in google and came up with 719 entries, because there are a number of torture survivor centers that incorporate EMDR in their work. EMDR is appropriate for torture survivors as long as the screening for a formal dissociative disorder has been conducted and as long as the therapist is qualified to work with that population, because different types of torture/backgrounds require different sensitivities. Good luck.
