Need for research: Great need to be sure that what we are doing out there makes sense, that we really are treating clients well. What has happened recently because of the clinicians who used EMDR well and the researchers who researched under rigorous situations, EMDR was accepted as treatment of choice by Israeli National Council for Mental Health, one of three methods chosen to treat trauma victims and the same happened by Critical Resource Efficiency Support Team Northern Ireland Department of Health EMDR chosen as one of two treatments of choice for trauma victims.

INTERNET RESOURCES
* www.emdrhap.org
o Overview, clinical aids, outreach to underserved and communities in crisis
o EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs offers pro bono trainings (and low cost trainings) to areas of underserved populations.
o The Disaster Mental Health Recovery Network that organizes and coordinates clinicians to do trauma treatment in areas of crisis. This was done in NYC and in Washington, DC after 9/11. We had enough clinicians on the ground there but we put in a coordination and referral network there and treated over 900 victims who were given pro bono treatment. If you are in a traumatized area and need help, to activate the clinicians in your community or because there are not enough clinicians in your community and you need the help to have clinicians come in (as we did after the OKC bombing) HAP is the place that you get in touch with. The databases we work with are primarily The Institute Data Base because that's the one we have and those who are EMDRIA members. If you are an EMDRIA approved Trainer conducting EMDR trainings either in the private or University sector, please make sure that if you are doing trainings and your clinicians who would like to be a part - be able to receive or reach out and help- please be sure they contact HAP in order to be part of the data base.
