I've been doing emdr for about two years. It's helped me toward greater insight & toward cognitive and emotional shifts. It hasn't, per se, helped me to feel "better". Insight doesn't necessarily feel "good" and shifts in thinking and feeling can be difficult and disorienting. Therapy, over all, has helped me to feel "better"... but it has included many techniques, and I am on medication, as well. RDI (resource development and installation) feels "good" but it's sort of a temporary "high". My .02
