Hi, I thought I had posted a question here earlier, but now I can’t find it, so I’ll try again and see what happens this time. I am writing with regards to the application of EMDR known as RESOURCE INSTALATION. I have used EMDR in the past(1992) to deal with the actual traumatic events of my childhood and found it to be VERY helpful in allowing me to work through these memories with an objective point of view, striped of the emotional baggage connected to them. I now can see that as a young child I was not responsible, nor could I have protected myself from the abuse and neglect I had endured. The PTSD symptoms seem have quieted down, yet now I am faced with a depression (related medicals concern 2 yrs ago)that seems unending. I have put my relationships at risk, because I tend to isolate myself, and have a difficult time asking for help, or even letting my friends and family know what’s happening. My therapist (he is not EMDR trained and will reefer me out, my past EMDR therapist is no longer practicing in this area) has suggested using RESOURCE INSTALATION to address the “core Issues” that keep me from trusting, and asking for help. It was easy to take a memory and use that as the target for a session, but how do I find a suitable target for these sessions. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am very creative and anxious to learn more about this process. Are there any books on this issue? Thanks. A Client.
