Dr. Shapiro,
After discussing EMDR with my provider over a year ago, she has finally decided to refer me to a trained EMDR professional. I have PTSD resulting from multiple traumas committed over a three year period, from age 13 to 16. Treatment has been delayed for over 20 years, due to misdiagnosis. I had been treated for the past 10 years for the manifestations of the PTSD - severe panic attacks, depression, OCD and agoraphobia. However the core of the problems, the PTSD, went untreated. The situation is severe. I have tried all antidepressants, with the exception of MAO inhibitors, ten years of talk therapy, and a few rounds of ECT, which made matters worse.
At present, I am considered "too complicated" to be a candidate for a VNS trial.
I saw your note regarding the efficacy of EMDR on single trauma PTSD.
What are the chances of EMDR working for multiple trauma PTSD, with delayed treatment?
