Simon, M. (2000, September). A Comparison between EMDR and Exposure for Treating PTSD: A Single-Subject Analysis. the Behavior Therapist, 23, 172-175. "...subjects responded with reduced symptomatology in approximately the same length time to each treatment. Proponents of EMDR have claimed that EMDR has been effective in treating PTSD within 1 to 4 sessions, whereas the literature on exposure indicates treatment duration anywhere from 7 to 14 sessions. The results of this study would indicate that the length of time for EMDR to be effective is approximately the same as exposure." (p. 174) "Also, the therapist had no formal training in exposure techniques, whereas she had been trained in both Levels I and II of EMDR prior to administering the treatment." (p. 175)
