Hi, It can be dangerous too- many therapists learn it from hillbilly workshops and don't prep their clients for the flood of unprocessed stuff, which has hit me many times. I found later that there is some controversy over EMDR and all I know is it works for me.
I have found EMDR helpful on my healing from childhood physical and sexual abuse. I knew nothing about EMDR the (first) time, but was open to trying it with my therapist and afterwards I felt great shifts in my emotions and thoughts. I have been in therapy for 9 years with over 12 psychologists and in the end, EMDR works for me better than many other modalities.
