You're right about not fielding case questions here, but I'll make some general comments. Many people have Blocking Beliefs about what might happen in present time if they start feeling better, more powerful, etc. Those blocking beliefs can inhibit EMDR progress. Another thing that occurs for some people is that internal dynamics or conflicts, such as loyalty to perpetrators, or loyalty and a wish to preserve the attachment to neglectful (or worse) parents, may create concerns about dealing with old issues. And sometimes whole parts of the self are committed ot not rocking the boat. There are other things that can block EMDR progress, but these are some common ones. Blocking beliefs can be addressed with EMDR and/or cognitive behavior therapy. Internal conflicts about loyalties to perps can be nicely addressed with ego state therapy.
